It is the beginning of your period E class and you realize that you forgot that your vocabulary book in your locker. After you’re excused, you start to wander down the 400 hallway. You glance up, and at the other end is that person you know, but don’t talk to.

And the awkwardness begins.

Do you say hi? Do you start a conversation? When do you start to talk? Oh no, your vision is starting to blur and you suddenly start to cry because you’re so awkward.

FEAR NO MORE!! Carmel is now offering Hallway Companions. Instead of hesitating to say hi to your ex-friend or fling, just talk to your assigned buddy! They will meet you at the beginning of each end of the 400, and hold small talk with you until you reach your destination.

“I used to dread the 400 hall,” freshman Dan Tourville said. “Now I know I’ll never have to worry about when to make a comment about how close to Friday it is again.”
