Club CCHS

Carmel’s parent playground

The piercing sounds of Carmel moms cheering and squealing over selfies for their Facebook pages hurts your ears the moment you step inside the Black Box. New Balance-clad dads howl with laughter over their corny jokes, and junior Mark Meny DJ’s with his set of retro hits and crowd pleasers.

The newest additions to the Black Box include a DJ booth, where parents can request any song, and a laser show that keeps tempo with the music.

This is what parents can expect from the Black Box Theatre in the fall of 2018. After complaints that Street Scene’s “two nights and two nights only” approach is two nights too short, the Black Box is set to be the permanent home of Club CCHS, Lake County’s latest disco and casino.

Just like the annual Street Scenes event, teachers will be required to volunteer at Club CCHS. College and career counselor Nate Bargar will be in charge of keeping the party going, including out-dancing your dad and roasting your mom about her out-of-date 2008 Jeep Wrangler that is so not the right shade of blue.

Dance teacher Kacey Valentine will also have her dance classes, always dressed in neon 80’s outfits, perform flash mobs monthly.

Club CCHS will also host specialty nights like Mariachi Mondays, Tuesdays are for the Girls, Whippin’ Wednesdays, Throwback Thursdays, Funky Fridays, and Saturday Night Fever. Each night will be dedicated to a specific type of Carmel parent or alumni, from those college grads who still post throwback pictures from high school to those moms who somehow all managed to wear the exact same Old Navy sweater.
