Anne Nieminski

First Year Assistant Volleyball Coach

English Teacher Anne Nieminski is this year’s new assistant coach for the Freshman Girls’ B-Team Volleyball.

Nieminski’s volleyball career began with her grammar school team, and today she plays in a rec league with other teachers. She loves coaching and meeting new students who she does not normally teach.

Nieminski is “ecstatic when [she] see[s] the girls succeed and [she] get[s] really into the games.” Winning is an amazing feeling to her, and she said she can not wait to see where the girls go next.

Jennifer Dompke

First Year Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach

In the past four years, Jennifer Dompke (pictured on the left) has been the assistant coach for Carmel’s varsity cheerleading team. This year, it is her first being head varsity coach.

A Carmel Cheer alum herself, cheerleading has always been a hobby and love of hers.

When asked to become the varsity coach for this year, she said she was “very excited to see what [she] could do with the girls and [is] looking forward to see where they will go.”

Preston Wickremesekera

First Year Football Player

Senior Preston Wickremesekera is playing high school football for the first time this year – on the varsity football team.

“I loved seeing the family aspect of the team,” Wickremesekera said, “and I really wanted to be a part of it.” Wickremesekera played football in elementary school but has not played since.

He said he gets excited for the hype before games, and he looks forward to being with his team. Wickremesekera said he enjoys playing with his friends, and misses the student section, but loves his new family more.

Liam Luzano

First Year Member of Cadence

Senior Liam Luzano recently joined Cadence, Carmel’s show choir. Cadence is a group of singers and dancers that perform in competitions.

He said he appreciates performing and the great friendships he has made. The practices in the morning are a small sacrifice compared to the long-lasting friendships he has made through Carmel Cadence.
