The fine arts department is bringing on the holidays with its annual Christmas concert on Thursday.

The audience can expect a warm welcome from the performers at the start of the show.

“Every year in the beginning of the concert, all of the choirs surround the audience and sing carols,” senior Grace Butler said. “My favorite one, and the one I am most excited for this year, is the ‘Carol of the Bells.’”

Along with traditional carols and classic songs, the Treble Choir is also excited to try something new this year: an unorthodox song called “Sleigh Bells.”

“It is quite a tongue twister but if we can master it,” senior Danielle Amato said. “I’m sure it will be a great performance.”

The show includes members of the various choirs, as well as the band and the strings.

“These students have worked long and hard for this event.” music director and choir teacher Kent Parry said. “I hope to see a good turn out to reward them for this hard work.”

The performers say that they’re excited, but anxious. Even fourth-year performers still get nervous for the big day.

“To be honest, I get nervous even when I have my music down, and especially when I have to sing a solo,” senior Sigourney Porter said. “But once I’m singing, those nerves go away and I’m able to have the time of my life on stage with some of my closest friends in the class.”
