Feliz Navidad

AP Spanish students sing La Posada

To celebrate Latin American culture this Christmas season, the AP Spanish class performed La Posada de AP, a reenactment of Mary and Joseph looking for lodging, on Monday afternoon.

The class moved from classroom to classroom while singing the traditional Spanish song, “La Posada.” The students said they love getting really into it no matter their level of musical ability.

“My favorite part of La Posada is singing to all the classes,” senior Meghan Ammentorp said.

It’s also an opportunity to explain La Posada to other students.

“My favorite part of La Posada was going to each classroom and teaching them a little about Spanish culture,” senior Claire Kosik said.

Other Carmel teachers were eager to open their classrooms to the singers. Señora Granados said she had trouble fitting them all in.

“We visit six classrooms, and I always run out of space for the amount of classes we can fit in,” Granados said. “We have to turn teachers down.”

This Christmas tradition is especially important to Señora Granados.

“I feel like I am honoring my family,” Granados said. “And I am honoring traditions of families across Latin America.”
